Laya Gasa Trek

One of the most renowned and difficult hiking trails in Bhutan is the Laya Gasa Trek, which draws travellers in with its natural beauty and many cultural offerings. This amazing adventure starts in the Paro Valley and ends in the beautiful Gasa district, covering a distance of about 217 kilometres. Trekkers have an immersive journey through Bhutan's preserved environment along the way, passing through a variety of landscapes that include vast alpine meadows scattered with yak herder communities and lush forests brimming with oak and rhododendron.

Over the course of the roughly 14-day hike, diverse views of snow-capped peaks, tumbling waterfalls, and crystal-clear lakes are revealed at every turn. It's not just a physical trek but also a cultural odyssey, with trekkers experiencing the kind hospitality of remote communities like Laya, situated above 12,000 feet in altitude. This is the place where tourists can interact with people dressed in traditional clothing, see long-standing traditions, and learn about the native way of life.
