Paro Festival

This annual festival takes place during springtime, specifically from the 11th to the 15th day of the second month in the Bhutanese calendar, typically falling in late March or April. It ranks among the biggest and most favored festivals nationwide, and attendees may even catch a glimpse of the King if fortunate!

Once again, the festival is a riot of colors as monks and locals dress in bright, multi-colored clothes. They gather to dance and socialize, wearing masks representing different deities. The festival's highlight is when eager attendees finally see the 350-year-old thangka, an ancient and sacred Buddhist scroll. It's cherished for its historical stories, many of which praise the good deeds of Guru Rinpoche.
