Punakha Festival

The Punakha Tshechu stands as one of Bhutan's most renowned festivals, following closely after the well-known Punakha Drupchen.

Its main highlight occurs on the final day with the unveiling of the Thongdrel of Guru Rinpoche. It's believed that witnessing this sacred scroll liberates observers and absolves them of their sins.

  1. Day 1: Arrival in Paro and Transfer to Punakha +

    • Witness colorful masked dances, traditional music performances, and religious rituals.
    • Observe locals dressed in traditional attire and enjoy the festive atmosphere.
    • Explore the stalls selling local handicrafts, souvenirs, and delicious Bhutanese cuisine.


  4. Day 4: Exploration of Surrounding Areas +

    • After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to explore the surrounding areas of Punakha.
    •Visit Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Lhakhang Nunnery, perched on a hilltop with panoramic views of the valley.
    • Visit Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, a stunning Buddhist shrine with breathtaking views of the Punakha Valley


  5. Day 5: Departure from Punakha+

    • After breakfast, check out from the hotel.
    • Transfer to Paro International Airport for your onward journey.
